The Most Excellent Way brings to mind the way we would do things; the way we think, the way we would behave, and, doing our best in everything we do. We all want to have the sense of accomplishment where we can be satisfied, knowing we had put forth our best effort toward our goals in life; whether it be on the job, at church, how we treat our friends and our family members, and how we walk with the Lord. The most excellent way we can accomplish these things is first and foremost dependent upon how we walk with the Lord.
In 1 John 4 it reads “Beloved let us love one another, for love is of God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God for God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world (Emanuel, God with us) that we might live through Him……No one has ever seen God: but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us.”
In 1 Corinthians 13 it reads: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
In Romans 12 it reads: “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil, cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
The most excellent way would also include standing in the gap for those you love, that they would come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Praying in spiritual warfare against all the powers and principalities of the air, and against the rulers of darkness in this world. Praying that the eyes of those you love and care for would be enlightened, so they will know the hope of their calling. That those you love would gain insight in how to love and seek the Lord with all their hearts to know Him better, and to learn to know His Voice with great clarity. That Christ will dwell in their hearts through faith, so that they, along with you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have power together with all the saints, the power to grasp and understand how how wide, how long and how deep is the love of Christ and to know this love that surpasses knowledge.
This Love is what enables you to walk in newness of life. This love enables you to walk having a clear purpose. It enables you to walk in the Gifts of the Spirit and the Calling that God has placed upon your life. You cannot effectively prophecy without the love of Christ in your life because the Spirit of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy. And, like Jesus said, “apart from Him, we can do nothing.” It will not be by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord. He, therefore, is the Most Excellent Way. “And now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love. But the greatest of these is Love.”
