“My son, give Me your heart, so that I can show you the way.” We tend to set our hearts on things that, for the moment, look like something we really want, or desire. We focus our attention on its attracting qualities, like color, or smell or taste; like the light-emitting beauty of a rainbow when a rain storm is passing over and the sun breaks through the clouds. As you notice the rainbow while driving you tend to keep an eye out for another glimpse, hoping to see again the wonderful spectacle of radiant arching beams of color that glowingly contrast against a dark cloud.
The “heart” means the very innermost, deepest part of your mind where you exercise the ability to comprehend meaning. In the realm of the spirit, it is where your faith will take root, and revelation begins to expand your comprehension. I tend to believe it is where your own spirit has its residence. When you invite Jesus Christ into your life to be your Lord and Savior, and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, He takes His place of residence in your believing heart, to transform you into the image of the Father’s own dear Son. It is a remarkable transformation where you are changed from living a life of darkness into living in His own marvelous light.
We all can develop ideas. Ideas can be tantalizing. We brainstorm ideas, writing them down on paper, or entering them as text, so we won’t forget them. Then we arrange them, and re-arrange them to develop imaginary outcomes, giving them a “trial run”, if you will, to see if your strategy would be sound and strong enough, at least on paper (or text), to succeed. As many people have said: “sometimes the only way to really know is to try it.” But there is always risk involved when the outcome is not really certain. Will it be worth the risk? Is this the right thing to do? “There is a way that seems right to a man, but the Lord knows the outcome.” This is why we need to know the Lord’s heart on the matter. This is also why the Lord says to you and I; “My son, give Me your heart so that I can show you the way.”
Now behold the beauty that lies ahead of you. For the eye has not seen, nor the ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has in store for those who love Him. But God reveals those things to those who love Him by His Spirit; they are spiritually discerned, yes even the deep things of God. For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the Glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. The Spirit of the Lord is brooding over, incubating every Word that is flowing forth from the mouth of the Lord.
The Author and the Finisher of your faith is giving you a change in your believing heart; the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not before seen, so that you will find Him as the Rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. The eyes of the Lord are roaming to and fro throughout the whole earth, seeking those whose hearts are steadfast toward Him, to show Himself strong in their behalf. For He Who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.
